How to Spiritually Cleanse Your Home

Deliverance and house cleansing start with repentance, addressing unforgiveness and renunciation of oaths and covenant. The enemy often lies, saying believers “don’t have enough authority,” but our authority comes from Jesus’ worthiness, not our own. Jesus, the spotless Lamb, has already been examined and approved; we stand in His righteousness, not ours.

When spiritually cleansing your home, you must remove cursed or occult objects that give demons a legal right to stay. This includes items like crystals, statues from false religions, occult books, Freemason material, New Age objects, horror/witchcraft media (including some Disney content), pornography, and souvenirs from witchcraft-heavy regions. In Joshua 7, Achan had a cursed object in his possession which led to the defeat of Israel during a time of war. Deuteronomy 7:26 says, "Nor shall you bring an abomination (devoted/cursed item) into your house, lest you be doomed to destruction like it. You shall utterly detest it and utterly abhor it, for it is an accursed thing."

If you watching horror or witchcraft movies, listening to ungodly music or similar content, that may have opened a spiritual portal in your home. Even if you prayed the prayer but saw no change, it may be because of objects or people still agreeing with darkness (for example, a family member who continues to watch such movies). Hedging off your own room, drawing a bloodline around it, and claiming it as your territory. Say, "I draw a bloodline of Jesus around my room."

Every believer has authority (Luke 10:19, Psalm 110, Colossians 2:15, Hebrews 2:14), regardless of age or spiritual maturity. Say prayers to renounce occult ties, break curses, command demons to leave, plead the Blood of Jesus, invite angels, and daily cover the home and family. You have authority!

Prepare Your Heart & Invite the Holy Spirit

Before cleansing anything, align your spirit:

Pray to the Holy Spirit for your spiritual eyes and ears to be opened. Ask Him to show you the things in your home that should be removed.
Focus on Jesus and His authority, not fear.
Remember key scriptures:
- John 16:33 – “Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
- Luke 10:19 – “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.”
- 1 John 4:4 – “Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world”

Understand that spiritual realities are behind visible objects and environments.

Open Heavenly Portals Before Closing Demonic Ones

This creates spiritual authority and strength. Pray:

“Father, I invite Your heavenly presence into my home. I release the Blood of Jesus over every room, wall, window, door, and object. Open heavenly portals of blessing, protection, and peace in this home.”

Ask the Holy Spirit to Reveal Objects That Do Not Glorify God

Walk slowly through your home and ask:

“Holy Spirit, show me anything in this home that does not glorify You.”

Spiritually Contaminated Objects

Souvenirs from occult regions (Thailand, India, Haiti, etc.)

Cremation Ashes

Human ashes (urns) should not be kept in the home due to familiar spirits attached to them.

Remove and Destroy Any Dark Objects

When the Holy Spirit identifies an item:

Remove it immediately.
Destroy it if possible (burn, break, or render unusable).
Do not give it away or donate it.

“I break the power of every spirit attached to this object. I cut off all access points, assignments, and influences. By the Blood of Jesus, you must leave this property now.”

Cleanse Each Room in Your Home

Enter every room and perform the following:

Plead and declare the Blood of Jesus.
Command every unclean spirit to leave.
Remove any highlighted items.
Break demonic portals and access points.
Invite the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Cleanse Your Children’s Rooms

Children are especially vulnerable. Signs of spiritual activity include:

Night terrors or nightmares
Imaginary friends
Seeing figures or shadows
Sudden fear or violent behavior

Steps:

Remove all questionable toys, media, or decor. There is an incident of a pastor's daughter who got demon possessed through a toy.
Pray over their bed and belongings.
Break all assignments of fear and torment.
Anoint the room if desired.
Lay hands on the child and pray deliverance if necessary.

Cleanse the Property & Land

Demons can attach to land. To cleanse the land:

Walk the property boundaries and pray over it. Sprinkle holy oil (prepare, pray over, and bless a jar of oil, in Jesus Name) on it.
Declare the Blood of Jesus over the soil.
Break curses from past owners, rituals, or defilement.
Invite angels to guard the borders.

Anoint & Protect Your Home Daily

After cleansing, maintain spiritual protection by:

Anointing doors and windows with holy oil.
Playing worship music.
Reading and speaking scripture in the home.
Keeping all occult or ungodly media out of your environment.

Live a Lifestyle That Keeps Portals Closed

Keep spiritual doors shut by avoiding:

Sin and unforgiveness
Anger, pornography, witchcraft, new age practices
Violent or demonic media
Negative words and curses

Maintain God’s presence through:

Prayer: Prayer Psalm 91 and other scriptures over your home and family.
Worship God with thanksgiving and praise
Bible reading
Speaking the Word
Take the Lord's Supper/communion daily.
Break curses and soul ties.
Get a bottle of oil and pray God's blessings over it and anoint yourself with it.
Place the holy oil on your doors and window.
Pray over and blessed everything you buy from the thrift store, flee market, garage sale or any used items. Also, examine them for occult symbols and words.

Final Prayer Over Your Home

“In the name of Jesus, I cleanse this home from all spiritual darkness. I break every demonic portal, access point, assignment, and curse. I command every unclean spirit to leave now and never return. I close every demonic door and open heavenly portals of blessing, protection, healing, and peace. Holy Spirit, fill this home. Let Your angels guard every entry point. Let Your presence rest in every room. This home belongs to Jesus Christ alone."
